OREMUS: The Traditional Latin Mass Explained

Why does the priest have his back to the people?

Why Communion on the tongue?

Is it okay to pray the Rosary during the Latin Mass?

So many questions about this "most beautiful thing this side of heaven" -- the 2000-year-old Roman Rite of the Catholic Mass. It dates back to Apostolic times. Its prayers originated on the lips of angels, Roman centurions, and the Son of God Himself. Right now, the Traditional Latin Mass -- sometimes called the Tridentine Mass -- is experiencing a global revival. And yet many Catholics do not understand what it means, even though it is the liturgical birthright of every baptized Catholic back to Peter the Apostle.

In this video, Father Gregory Pendergraft, FSSP, takes us through the Latin Mass, step by step, and explains why it is the Mass that matters, with special emphasis on how to PRAY the ancient Mass at which every saint, virgin, martyr, pope, king, and peasant in history assisted since the days when Jesus Christ walked this earth. Interviewed by Michael J. Matt, Father Pendergraft relies on his vast experience as traditional Catholic liturgist to present a fresh, new, and off-the-cuff explanation of why the Latin Mass matters, and why it will never die.
