Monica Smit is founder of Reignite Democracy Australia, which opposes the Victorian government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. After her arrest, she was charged with incitement for urging people to attend anti-lockdown protests.  As of September 1, she remains in custody despite being granted bail, because she has refused to agree to conditions imposed by a magistrate.
