In this Underground episode, Michael Matt connects Pope Pius XII's prophetic warning about the "loss of the sense of sin" to today's scandals that are having a “coming out” party through the Synodal Church.
From Vatican promotion of LGBT initiatives to the normalization of public scandal; from Pope Leo XIV to the controversy surrounding the SSPX, this episode asks one question:
If sin is no longer considered sin, what becomes of the Church's mission to save souls?
Michael explores:
The salvation of souls must always be the supreme law of the Church.

With just two weeks remaining before the SSPX consecrations in Econe, Switzerland, Catholics around the world are once again asking the question that has divided good men for decades:
In this episode of The Remnant Underground, Michael Matt examines the terrifying global collapse of Christian morality, the silence of Church leaders (it's what they're NOT saying that's creating the morality crisis), and the growing concerns of Catholic parents trying to protect their children in an increasingly corrupt culture.
From Pride Month celebrations in historically Catholic cities to the Vatican's continued blessing of same-sex "couples", Michael points out that the "state of emergency" Archbishop Lefebvre identified in 1988 has reached epic proportions, and asks if the morality crisis itself isn't reason enough to disobey a papal mandate since souls are at stake.
This episode also explores:
• Canon Law and the "salvation of souls" principle
• Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre's missionary legacy
• Bishop Athanasius Schneider's defense of the SSPX
• The future of the Traditional Latin Mass movement
• Catholic restoration efforts in Africa, Tokyo, and beyond
• Uniting the Clans
Whether you support or oppose the upcoming consecrations, this discussion challenges Catholics to focus on the real crisis confronting the Church and the world today.
This is not 1988. There will be no circular firing squad this time.

For fifty years Catholics have debated the Society of Saint Pius X, episcopal consecrations, and questions of schism and canonical status.
But according to Bishop Athanasius Schneider—and Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre before him—most people are arguing about the wrong thing. Let's examine the real "State of Emergency" in the Catholic Church: collapsing vocations, shuttered churches, empty monasteries, declining belief, the suppression of the Traditional Latin Mass, and a growing crisis of Catholic identity in the post-Vatican II era.
The question is not whether emergency measures are justified, but whether the emergency itself can still be denied.
Featuring: Bishop Athanasius Schneider Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre
The SSPX consecrations
The Traditional Latin Mass Vatican II and Nostra Aetate Pope Francis and religious pluralism
The Chartres Pilgrimage
The future of Catholic Tradition
What is the REAL crisis facing the Church today?

Michael Matt walks the grounds of a medieval French monastery and asks three questions:
Where have all the Catholics gone?
What hath Vatican II wrought?
Could Synodality possibly be any more irrelevant?

Why does the priest have his back to the people?
Why Communion on the tongue?
Is it okay to pray the Rosary during the Latin Mass?
So many questions about this "most beautiful thing this side of heaven" -- the 2000-year-old Roman Rite of the Catholic Mass. It dates back to Apostolic times. Its prayers originated on the lips of angels, Roman centurions, and the Son of God Himself. Right now, the Traditional Latin Mass -- sometimes called the Tridentine Mass -- is experiencing a global revival. And yet many Catholics do not understand what it means, even though it is the liturgical birthright of every baptized Catholic back to Peter the Apostle.
In this video, Father Gregory Pendergraft, FSSP, takes us through the Latin Mass, step by step, and explains why it is the Mass that matters, with special emphasis on how to PRAY the ancient Mass at which every saint, virgin, martyr, pope, king, and peasant in history assisted since the days when Jesus Christ walked this earth. Interviewed by Michael J. Matt, Father Pendergraft relies on his vast experience as traditional Catholic liturgist to present a fresh, new, and off-the-cuff explanation of why the Latin Mass matters, and why it will never die.
